The Lord's Kitchen was founded as an outreach of Evangel World Prayer Center, a multi-cultural church led by Dr. Bob and Margaret Rodgers. The vision of the Rodgers family to reach the hungry birthed and nurtured The Lord's Kitchen from its opening Christmas Day 1988. Located at 2732 South 5th Street, Louisville, Kentucky in the shadows of historic Churchill Downs, The Lord's Kitchen has faithfully fed the needy, 365 days a year, 7 days a week, for over 28 years.
Since its humble beginning, The Lord's Kitchen opened its doors at a second site located at 18th and Standard Avenue, on The Corner of Hope Campus. It sits in one of Louisville's most economically distressed neighborhoods and quickly gained community support and energized the area. The need was so great that we launched Hope Distribution Center, a partnership with Dare to Care to provide groceries to an economically disparaged community. Hope Distribution Center distributes an average of 5,000 to 7,000 pounds of food weekly.
In addition to the two feeding sites and grocery distribution center, The Lord's Kitchen Ministries has established Hope Recovery Center, which provides critical support to those who are battling drug & alcohol addiction. We have also expanded our reach to include Hope Housing, which provides safe & affordable housing for displaced veterans.
